Advanced Workshop

Undergraduate Course, Fall 2021-2023

Advanced Workshop is a foundational course designed to introduce incoming students to the tools, techniques, and safety protocols of a fabrication workshop. Emphasizing hands-on learning, the course engages students with a diverse range of materials—from paper and cardboard to wood and cement—encouraging an understanding of material behavior and fabrication strategies. Students are exposed to both analog and digital tools, including cutting, shaping, casting, and joining methods. Through iterative prototyping and guided exercises, the workshop fosters spatial thinking, craftsmanship, and confidence in physical making, laying a critical groundwork for future architectural and design explorations.
